Guy Contact Mix
Hailing from Western Australia, Guy Contact specialises in creating low-slung and sultry downtempo house rhythms. The subtle softness in his percussion is released by comforting yet pressurised acid grooves. The music is plasmic yet pounding, often mind-bending and sometimes soothing. After a lengthy hiatus, the train has well and truly started again and it’s full steam ahead, so we’re super excited to have him be a part of our Tapes Series as #33!
Kiara Scuro Mixx
Kiara Scuro’s wild, energetic club sets flow through new wave to post-punk, electro to house, synth escapades to abstract techno and so much more, meandering between genres and styles with exceptional style and grace. Rosie Cain and Nadia Anderson are the real deal and we are so excited to welcome them as #33 on our Tapes series.
Juicy Romance Mixx
Kittenish kisses, magnetic mystique, amorous addiction, love at first glance; a sense of the sensuality evoked by the steamy sounds of Juicy Romance. When it comes to music, Juicy Romance’s fruity and flirty sets exude a hedonistic and surrealistic night-club characteristic that will undeniably capture your affection and titillate your heartstrings.
After solidifying herself as one of Australia’s freshest and most formidable electronic acts, she is set to burst onto the international scene with a string of glamorous gigs across Europe and the UK in the coming months. Here’s a taster of what’s to come - enjoy!
Kaishandao Mixx
Forged from the isolated, windswept hills of Wellington, New Zealand, melded by the breakneck BPM of modern China, Kaishandao (Mandarin for 'machete)' is Chengdu-based producer Kristen Ng, who creates a hard-hitting sound of complex origins and eccentric imperfections that chops a lost and found heritage into a playful mash-up of delirious dance music. We’re so excited to have her feature as #31 on our Tapes series, with this mix from a recent live show in Changsha - enjoy!
Maroki Mixx
Hailing from West Wales and now living in Amsterdam, Maroki joins us for our next installment of Origins Tapes #30. Having taken an 8-year hiatus from releasing and producing music while chasing a Michelin Star he has come back this year with a slew of releases. From his own Imprint 'Handy Records' along with a diverse 12" on the legendary 'E-Beamz' label. Following that is a 12" coming out on Shall Not Fade's 'Lost Palms' in Late August/September along with 2 more records via Lobster Theremin and an album towards the end of the year. His mix is a journey through some records he has collected over the past 15 years. Hard-hitting, trance obscurities and packed full of grooves. Enjoy!
Tia Cousins Mixx
The rise of online radio stations with their unrestricted musical policies has been a perfect blessing for Tia Cousins. She is a collector with a passion for in-between sounds, for experimental genres and niches both old and new. Frankly, she has a collection that belies her young years, but one that has won her plenty of recognition in underground circles, from NTS to Balamii, the Tate Gallery to Brilliant Corners. We’re so excited to have her feature as #29 on our Tapes series.
Michelle Manetti Mixx
DJ, vocalist, promoter & producer Michelle Manetti blossomed from being an underage clubber in the Late 90s UK Rave scene, into a well-loved and well-respected DJ and stalwart of East London's Queer scene. With over 17years of DJ-ing under her belt, it's safe to say she's no novice to the decks, with the passion, skill, panache, and record collection of a well-established and well-refined DJ.
Nikki Nair Mixx
Atlanta-based Producer and DJ Nikki Nair is up next for #22 of our Tapes series. In such a short time, he’s distinguished himself as a bold voice in the landscape of hybridized dance music and has released on Scuffed, Pretty Weird, Gobstopper, Banoffee Pies, Muy Muy Limited, TRAM Planet, and Dirtybird. Nair’s productions, in conjunction with his selection skills, establish him as a fresh, unconventional voice in dance music and we’re excited to be welcoming him for our Origins Tapes series.
Melle Brown Mixx
We welcome back Melle Brown, this time to the Origins Tapes Series. Melle is a London-based artist that rides the paths, floating between Neo-Soul, Jazz and House. Their biweekly show on Reprezent Radio has hosted the likes of Hadiya George & Melvo Baptiste and their releases on Jamz Supernova’s Future Bounce have gained industry-wide recognition. Melle is making much more than just background noise <3
Jeigo Mixx
Next up for Origins Tapes #19 is DJ & producer Jeigo, who creates standout euphoric, melodic cuts for the club and takes the same care of their DJ selection as every sonic choice within their own music. The future for Jeigo is incredibly bright and this mix is a wonderful example of their capabilities as a DJ and artist, and definitely an entity to watch for the foreseeable future.
