Hi rumu, great to have you with us on our Tapes series! Absolutely digging this mix, so many artists that we absolutely love! Can you tell me a bit about your fav tunes that you've put in it?

Thanks for asking :) It’s exactly that for me too, a mix of my favourite artists. The Tapestry Of Sound EP on Step Ball Chain is a standout for me, every tune is killer - Roza Terenzi and D. Tiffany are releasing some amazing music at the moment. The Martyn remix of Shed’s 'Another Wedged Chicken' is a firm favourite from back in the day too, and also threw in some new rumu bits.

I remember your iso desire EP, awesome tunes, how did the release come about and what music have you got planned for the rest of the year?

I know this is true for a lot of producers, but I only started back producing again in March 2020 during lockdown after a six year hiatus. With all of the additional time on my hands, I hit my stride and found myself finishing more tunes than ever. I then sent the tunes to the Dusky boys and to my surprise they wanted to sign four of them, then the EP was born!

In terms of other music, there should be another rumu EP before the end of the year which is shaping up nicely, and a big remix I should hopefully be able to announce soon!

We have a bit of history back in the days in Bath, it's always awesome to see people from our ends making waves in dance music. Is there a particular moment that you remember from Bath that stands out in terms of clubbing/dance music experiences that got you going?

Haha yes big up Bath! There were a bunch of nights which stand out to me. I arrived in 2012 and at the time there was a short-lived night called Recall, who booked Paul Woolford back in 2013. In classic Woolford style he went from house to techno to jungle and back again, seamlessly, and was a big inspiration and a proper DJing masterclass. Those Recall nights were legendary!

Clubs just got announced as opening, I still don't really believe it until we're inside a venue dancing, but is there anything, in particular, you're most looking forward to when you're back on dancefloors with people?

The dancefloor is where I feel most at peace, so I’m incredibly excited to get back in amongst it. Swapping a smile with a random person around you whilst experiencing a musical moment of magic is always incredible.

If you could pick a place to DJ next week where would it be?

I’m playing for the lovely crew at Night Tales alongside Matthew Herbert, Paramida and more on July 24th so probably there! Always a fun time :)

The best track of 2021 so far?!!

Bambounou ‘Cascade’ is one I can’t get enough of and would love to hear in fabric RM1.
