Eich Mix
Rising through the UK scene over the past few years, Eich is renowned for her hard hitting selection of percussive drum hits and pitched vocal chops, often connecting the dots between bass music and techno, with groove, soul, and swing at the heart of her work. The launch of her label, More Cowbell, has reignited the flame for a sound that was so prominent in the Bristol post-dubstep landscape.
With support from Loefah's Swamp 81 and London label Keysound Recordings, Eich has gone on to work with a number of renowned artists within the underground music scene, including Addison Groove, Martyn and more and we’re so excited to have her feature as #36 on our Tapes series - happy listening!

Hi Eich, thanks so much for joining us! Can you let us know a bit about the mix, where were you when you put it together and what did you record it on?
I was in my flat in Finsbury Park, trying not to piss off my new neighbours with the noise. Our mixer at home is pretty busted so every time you get excited a knob flies off one of the channels and you lose it down the back of the decks. I think there’s only about three left after recording this.
I really enjoyed putting the mix together, digging for this one has left me feeling super inspired by all the amazing music out there. It’s full of all the things I love, from glitched-out vocals to airy pads to heavy kicks. My aim as a DJ has always been to try and take people on a journey from dark through to light, juxtaposing darkness with euphoria, I’m hoping this mix represents that!
Fave track?
There’s a track by Basic Rhythm called ‘Yeah, I Like It’, that I played towards the end of the mix that I’m obsessed with. It’s quite weightless and minimal, with some really dark keys as the driving force of the tune.
If we’re talking favourite track of all time...wow I don’t know! I think Pearson Sound’s ‘Dont Change For Me’ is up there with one of my favourites.
Have seen you playing on some proper sick lineups recently, The lineup on 12th November at Fabric looks wicked too! What's your fav show since coming back from lockdown?
I’m so excited about the fabric show after having to cancel my original debut back in July! Can’t wait to play on that system in room 1 with so many inspirations on the line-up.
I think my favourite gig back so far has to be a show I played up in Manchester at Stage & Radio in August. I’d never actually been to Manchester before and completely fell in love with the place and the people. The venue was amazing – lights out, low ceiling, small cap – and the crowd were just really open to what anyone was playing. Was great linking up with a lot of people I’d spoken to online over lockdown but never actually met up there as well. Can’t wait to head back!
Can you tell me about More Cowbell, and what's the next show you've got coming up that you've curated the lineup for?!
More Cowbell kind of just started off as a community project, aiming to bring together a scene that seemed to have dispersed a little bit in recent years both online and through events. We later transitioned into being a record label, it’s been great to merge the community ethos we’re so passionate about into the label.
The next show we’ve got coming up is in December with London’s HVYWGHT, taking over Lightbox. We’ve got Stenny flying over from Berlin, as well as some other really exciting artists playing like Nervous Horizon’s Ehua, Ila Brugal, our first artist to release on the label Monir, and myself back to back Neighbourhood’s Tasha! We’ve also got a very special guest who I can’t tell you about yet, but I’m sure you can take a guess.
We love football scarfs, and loving the ones you've made. If you could pick one place to see yours being held up where would it be? (e.g. Mine would be a photo outside Berghain with David Beckham holding ours sky high at 6am on a Sunday after England win the World Cup next year - unlikely to ever happen but dreams do come true)
Tony Soprano, in room 2 Corsica Studios after a hefty night on the stellas.
Best track of 2021 so far?
Rhyval – Footcell (Off Beat). I am completely obsessed with this track and this artist, he really does just get it right for me. I’ve been playing this track in almost every set. The juxtaposition between those high energy drums and those pads and pitched vocal in the breakdown – absolutely unreal. We’ve also got a track coming out on More Cowbell in November that I think is pretty up there for me. Really excited to share that after 6 months in the making!
The club you'd most like to play, in the whole wide wooooorld?
This one’s pretty obvious and has to be Berghain. Although, I would absolutely love to play in Paris at some point. Parisian club music has had a huge influence in what I do, so this is definitely on my list!
