Up next for Tapes #85 is London-based DJ, producer, label owner, and radio host Wager, who’s become known for championing an array of sounds from across the electronic and club music spectrum.
Soaking up his home city’s history of musical innovation and cross-pollination, Wager’s love for curating genre-dodging club heat was cemented in 2017 when he co-founded Scuffed Recordings with Ian DPM, the result of an internet friendship initially struck up over a mutual love of the wonkier side of house and techno. With Wager and Ian at the helm, Scuffed has since become a go-to label for hard-to-define dancefloor material, named as an essential label by the likes of Mixmag, DJ Mag and Resident Advisor.
As a DJ and radio host, Wager’s sets cover broad ground, and his radio shows have long been a testing ground for fresh track discoveries, new artists, and upcoming Scuffed material - through his long-running show on Reprezent Radio, which ran for 6 years, and as a Rinse FM resident co-hosting the Scuffed show. The same approach has seen Wager booked to DJ at clubs and festivals including fabric, Corsica Studios, Glastonbury and Parklife among others.
